Diu Fort
1)Portuguse wanted to foothold on the Diu Island to buld a Fort for Strengthn its Flourishing Special Trade.
2).Portuguse Made many attempts to seize Diu Island in 1501,1521 and 1531 from Sultan Bahadur Shah.
3).Portuguese king ordered NUNO DE CUNHA Govenor of portugal possession in india for 1528 To 1538 to build fort at Diu to Strengthern Trade .
4)Portuguse also attacked in 1532 and1533 from nearest coast but failed.
5.Mughal emperor Humayun Getting ready to attack to capture gujarat amd sultan tereitory.
6 1535.Sultan ask for help to Portuguse .
7.1533 Portuguse alredy construct fort i bassein bought from the sultan.
8)1535 Portuguse get permission to build a fort and also to position a garrison in the Fort.
9.1535-1546 Portuguse build large Fort in Diu they demolishing old Fort which built by other kings at same places and incresed strrength during this period.
10.Portuguse ambition to built a fort at diu completed then there was mistrust between the Sultan and portuguese on several issues.
11.1537 while going through Diu to gujarat sultan Bahadur shah killed by portuguse at diu harbor in ship.

15).1545 Mahmud iii nephew of Bahadur Shah also tried but not sucessfull to capture Diu Fort.

Diu Fort is Built in Area of around 56,736 mt.
Construction of Diu Fort.
1.Started in October and Completed in March with thePortuguse forced ,labour putting their full might.
2.Diu Fort is large Structure on cost of Diu island it cover full views of sea.
3)Diu city is fully ccvered by wall .
4)Outer line of fort build along the cost.
5)Inner Wall on which guns were mount.
6)Jetty build on the north western side is still in use
7).Fort was provided with three entrey gate.
8)Bastion built earlier by the sultan in the deep water channel next to the fort wall, was further strrengthern by the portuguse
9)Main entry gate there atr five large window with strong gallary other main front wall.
10)Collection of iron Shells scatered around in the fort area.
Gateway to the front has an inscription in portuguse.
11)The bastion at the gate is name St.George
12)1720 Bell (Inside the Fort bell of 1720 kept which is used in fort for timing .)
